Crystal Light Challenge and Weight Watchers Update #8

For new readers (hello!), go check out the Crystal Light Challenge and join on in! It’s simply a challenge to meet your own exercise goal. I am shooting for 90 minutes a week.

Every week I’m posting my own exercise update for the challenge. Hopefully you will comment below with your weekly results as well. :-)

If you’d like to be added to the challenger list, please leave your name, exercise goal, and website URL (if you have one) below and I’ll happily add you to the list! You can also email me your info to ccthoughts *at* gmail *dot* com or use the Contact form at the top.

Crystal Light Challenge Update

I started walking briskly at least 10 minutes every day around my job’s parking lot.  That means I only hit 50 minutes this week, but it also means I can add to it and have a guaranteed 90 minutes a week routine if I stay motivated.

How did you do on your goal?

Weight Watchers Update

I joined Weight Watchers on January 4, 2011:

  • Weighed in at 176 pounds
  • Wore a Size 14/16
  • Assigned up to 252 points a week plus whatever activity points I can earn (and was told to stay above 203 no matter what).

The goal I made January 1st, 2011 was to weigh 163 or less by July 4th, 2011 and fit into a Size 12 since that was the halfway point to my end of year goal to weigh 150 and fit into a Size 10. I hit my 163 goal by February 7th, 2011 (YAY!!!), so I’m making new goals.

My current goal is to weigh 150 or less by July 4th, 2011 and fit into a Size 10 or 12. I will ultimately be shooting for 140 pounds by December 31st, 2011 and will shoot to maintain that from there.

Here is where I stand today:

  • I now weigh 159 (down 17 pounds overall so far!!!).
  • My clothes are way looser and I measured 3.5 inches less in my waist overall…I would say that a size 12 is just a little too tight and I am wearing a loose size 14 right now.
  • I used 208 points of the 252 I was assigned (I have to stay above a minimum of 203 to stay healthy).

Thanks for keeping me honest! I hope all of your goals are going as planned!

  • I definitely lost weight this week, but it was 100% due to a 5 day stomach bug. My pants are really comfy right now. Hopefully, I can keep the portions down now that my stomach has shrunk some.

Great progress. You should definitely reward yourself with some cute new clothes once you hit your goal.

  • @First Gen, sorry you were sick, but it’s cool you always see the positives in things. :-)

Yes, so far I’ve bought a new $12 blouse, received a new VERY nice blouse as a present, bought a few new bras, and splurged $25 on a new pair of dress slacks that will bridge the gap between size 16 and size 12. When I finally hit a solid size 12 again, I’ll get a few more pairs of slacks and a couple of more shirts that would also look good at a size 10.

My biggest clothes hope is that if I just lose another inch or so in my waist, I can wear my reception outfit again – I LOVE that outfit. It’s sexy and sophisticated and I haven’t been able to fit into it for 3 years at least…when I get back into it, I’ll email you a picture!!! I’ll be all smiles!!!

Yeah on losing another 2 pounds. Congrats on walking too, every little bit will help. The first couple weeks are the toughest to start a new routine. After that it becomes more habit than anything else.

I was able to get my 6 days in again and also increase my running distance. I started running the 5 miles already. Legs were a little sore, but I was able to run it twice last week. Next up is running the 5 miles outside once some of the snow melts.

  • @MikeS, thanks! Congrats on the 5 miles!!! Your race is just around the corner, right?

  • MikeS

Thanks. The race is in about 2.5 weeks, March 19th. I was really planning on running 5 miles yet, but felt pretty good when I ran 4.75 on Tuesday and decided to try 5 on Thursday. I just pushed myself a little and was able to do it.

  • Walking is the best exercise. I walk my dogs, ( a Papillion and Victorian Bulldog) every evening and we get a mile in. Relieves stress too!

  • I am so excited to have found your blog! keep up the great work!

  • @MikeS, I am so happy for you and your extreme progress! You are one motivated man!

@Lisa, walking doesn’t hurt my joints so it gets an A+ in my book too!

@Cara, thank you so much and welcome!
