Kindness Commitment Friday #1

For anybody just tuning in, I post a kindness story and update every Friday as my part of The Kindness Commitment Challenge. I personally think that making a concious effort to be nice will benefit ourselves and others alike. Please feel free to add your random act of kindness in the comment section every week – it’s great for inspiration and makes for happy Friday reading as well!

This Week’s Story from the News

I saw this article in the Cape Cod Times that made me smile.  Bill Harty lost his wallet Thursday, December 30th – the wallet that had the $1300 for his mortgage payment and his heating bill!  His best guess is that since he usually tossed it under his seat, he kicked it out accidentally getting into his own truck.  He honestly thought he would never see it again.

Friday morning, during her morning walk, Susan Parker noticed a wallet lying in the road.  She immediately looked for contact information and realized she knew Bill in passing.  She was finally able to talk to him later that afternoon when he was off of work.  She asked him to come by and pick it up quickly, lol.

As Bill says, “It renewed my faith in people.”  :-)

I personally think that returning a lost wallet is something everyone should do, but isn’t it nice when that actually happens?

My Personal Update

My biggest act of kindness this week was accompanying my friend to Dallas on Monday for her nephew’s funeral so she wouldn’t have to go alone.  In total, it was 9 hours of driving and 4 hours of grieving family events, but I did make her smile a few times.  It was a very sad vacation day, but I think it helped.  I really hope it did.

How did you do this week? Build any good karma? Have any ideas for us in the future?
