Weekly Kindness Update #13

For anybody just tuning in, I post a kindness update every Friday as my part of The Kindness Commitment Challenge. I personally think that making a concious effort to be nice will benefit ourselves and others alike. Please add your random act of kindness in the comment section every week – it’s great for inspiration and makes for happy Friday reading as well!

This Week’s Update

Let’s see:

  • We’re cooking dinner again tonight for our friend who is having tough times right now.
  • I donated $5 to the Yakezie scholarship fund and am working a deal that should put another $125 into that fund by the end of the month, but that does feel more like a membership fee than a donation.
  • I’ve bought several unexpected gifts for people that will not be reciprocated.

How did you do this week? Build any good karma? Have any ideas for us in the future?

  • Oh yeah, thanks for the reminder. I donated to the yakezie scholarship too.

This week I donated a ton of my time reviewing 27 grant proposals for a school grant my company was giving away. I was happy to be part of the process and two happy schools got a total of $25K.

I also sent 2 $50 gift cards to my primary customer service reps.

  • I have an idea for this weekly post– maybe you could feature in depth someone across the internet who is doing something awesome in terms of weekly kindness… like money crush’s donation challenge and so on. Sort of like the CNN heroes series but more accessible.

  • My kindness for the week….I refrained from telling someone off who deserved it:) Believe me, the person did. I’m a pretty calm and even keeled person, most of time anyway, but I kept my mouth shut and kept in mind the holidays.

This might not match the donation I mentioned last week, when I gave money to the freezing homeless guy I felt sorry for, but kindness can take on many forms, right? :)

  • @First Gen, WAY TO GO! That is a great week!

@Nicole, good idea! I like inspirational stories too. This sounds like a great addition…I’ll keep it in mind when I dig in after the holidays. :-)

@Squirrelers, LOL, you surprised me with that one. I guess I’m glad you were able to stay quiet, although I am always a fan of putting people in their place…I know, bad Crystal…
